K&S Jerk Shop | Our Story

About Us

K&S Jerk Shop is more than a restaurant — it's a heartfelt tribute to Jamaican cuisine. Founded by husband-and-wife duo Kevin and Shawna Grant, their passion for food was born in Shawna's grandmother's kitchen in St. Thomas, where the rich aromas of jerk spices first sparked their love for authentic cooking. Together, they bring the true flavors of Jamaica to life, honoring tradition with every dish they serve. Each meal is a celebration of culture, community, and the belief that good food connects us all — one delicious bite at a time.
Our Journey: From Jamaica to Jamaica

Our Journey: From Jamaica to Jamaica

Founded in 2017, our restaurant was born out of a deep love for the rich, bold flavors of Jamaica. From the bustling streets of St. Thomas to the peaceful shores of Negril, our founder wanted to bring a piece of home to Dacula, Ga. Every dish on our menu is a celebration of Jamaican culture, crafted using recipes passed down for generations. But we believe in serving more than just food – we serve an experience. Every dish is made with fresh, locally sourced ingredients, bold spices, and the care that comes from decades of tradition. At K&S Jerk Shop, we pride ourselves on being a place where everyone feels like family.

Meet Di Chef: Di Heart Behind Wi Flavors

Shawna and Kevin Grant carry forward a rich culinary heritage steeped in tradition and community. Shawna's grandfather, Vincent "Baba Joe" Samuda of Wilmington, St. Thomas, was a celebrated cook whose dishes brought people together, fostering joy and connection at countless gatherings. His passion inspired Shawna’s uncle, Anthony Samuda, who modernized family recipes while preserving their essence, ensuring the traditions endured. This legacy extends further through Shawna's grand uncle and grand aunts, who owned and operated beloved local restaurants. Their establishments became cultural touchstones, showcasing the family’s dedication to hospitality and exceptional cuisine. Today, Shawna and Kevin honor these traditions in their own culinary journey. With Shawna's expertise and Kevin’s support, they blend heritage with innovation, creating meals that celebrate their roots while exploring new flavors. For the Grants, cooking is not just about food—it is a tribute to their ancestors and a celebration of family, culture, and love that continues to inspire future generations.
